Its first exhibit (February 10 to April 8) is acclaimed UK photographer Martin Parr's series on life in contemporary Finland. This year's entries reflect on the relationships between art and faith. In addition to artists from Iraq, Burma, Hong Kong and elsewhere, the lineup includes five commissioned works from local groups. Families take to local parks with their plastic toboggans of varied shapes and sizes, and cafés serve traditional pastries filled with whipped cream and jam. Laskiaistiistai (21.2.) juontaa juurensa kristilliseen perinteeseen, jossa se merkitsi 40 päivän paastonajan alkua. Vaikka nimi tarkoitti laskeutumista paastoon, laskiainen on yhdistetty Suomessa mäenlaskuun ja herkutteluun kermavaahdolla täytetyillä laskiaispullilla.
