Jains and Sikhs have their own variations as well, and the festival is among India's best known. Customs vary by region, but a prevailing tradition is clean one's home, light small clay lamps called diyas and set off firecrackers into the night. Festivaalin tärkein päivä on 26.10. www.diwalifestival.org Swedish idyll in Turku Turku, 2011's European Capital of Culture, showcases works by Swedish painter Carl Larsson (1853 1919). Larsson is famous for his watercolor works depicting Scandinavian domestic idyll. The exhibit will be on display at the Turku Art Museum until January 8, 2012, after which it will move to the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki. Turun taidemuseossa on esillä 8.1. 2012 saakka laaja kokoelma ruotsalaistaiteilija Carl Larssonin (18531919) töitä. Larsson tuli kuuluisaksi skandinaavista idylliä kuvaavista vesivärimaalauksistaan. Many of the works created for the event, including a 13-metre map of 200 acts of kindness around Sydney and a series of banners addressing the question of "What if?" came from collaborations between artists and locals.
