"What I love to do is welcome my non-Chinese friends here and introduce them to our culture, our way of doing things. Equally, it's great to take Chinese people outside their familiar surroundings and show them how things are beyond the borders. It's all about understanding each other, seeing alternative perspectives, dispelling worn-out myths." tRAVElliNG iN StYlE In addition to her cultural and charitable work, Xie remains committed to a host of worldwide appearances and maintains a dizzying travel schedule she regularly logs more than 200,000 kilometres a year. So it's hardly surprising that this woman in a hurry cherishes every second of time saved. Or that Finnair's faster northern routes to Europe appeal to her. "Any which way I can get ahead of myself is good news for me", confirms Xie. "That's why taking a shorter route, avoiding the big, busy airports and arriving earlier all get my vote." On board, too, Xie has nothing but praise for the Finnair experience. She is, after all, a woman with an innate sense of style and occasion, so Finnair's awardwinning cuisine and wines, full-flat seats in long-haul business class, and multilingual service are just the ticket. One memory from Xie's journey with Finnair particularly stands out. "Who would ever have expected a spa at an airport?" laughs the supermodel after a recent connecting stopover in Helsinki when she took time out to sample the airport's unique Finnair Spa and Saunas. "That was a first for meand I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it." And what of the future? we ask Xie before she leaves on yet another overseas trip. "You know, the real challenge is to be a happy person", she says. "You need to go on learning how to be happy all your life. There's an old Chinese proverb: `If you see three people in the street, one of them will be a teacher.' My ambition is to be that teacher and hopefully spread a bit of happiness where I can."
