The new wave of economic turmoil in Europe has postponed the ratification of a free trade agreement between South Korea and the EU, signed in October of 2009. However, the process of dismantling trade barriers goes on actively elsewhere. President Barack Obama wants the free trade agreement to be ready by the G20 summit, and is pushing negotiations forward accordingly. During the summer, South Korea itself presented an idea of closer economic integration of the three Asian powers: China, Japan and South Korea.
