Tervetuloa! w w w. a lc a t ra z.fi turmoil and from the rest of the Expo. A steady flow of visitors enters Kirnu throughout the day to catch a glimpse of what Finland has to offer, but the admirably patient but wearing queues that snake in front of the UK and French pavilions, for instance, have not yet formed in front of Kirnu. As a result, visitors enjoy a more relaxing and leisurely experience, and one in keeping with the Expo theme of "Better Life, Better City." "After analysing the main theme, we realised that there are many aspects that go well with it," says Huitu. "Of course Finland isn't wellknown as a country of metropolises, but we still have something to offer from the human perspective. So we are trying to offer opportunities for the companies already established here but also to open new channels, for example, in the creative areas of architecture and design." Kirnu organisers are hoping to build up both cultural and business-related movement between China and Finland. Finland is being promoted as a cultural destination and a viable breeding ground for investments, while Helsinki's status as a hub for both passenger and freight traffic is being highlighted. "If we look at investments from China to the Nordic countries, Finland is almost unrrepresented, which means something has not been done. So we want to try to put that right. "Sharing Inspiration" is our own slogan that means the combination of flows in both directions, trying to find the areas where we can benefit, not just in terms of teaching and learning, but also for networking and creating concepts where acting together is the idea." SUSTAINABLE SpECTACLE At the core of the Expo's "Better City, Better Life" concept is sustainability. In conjunction with this collective goal, recycled materials were used in Kirnu's construction, and the pavilion will be re-erected on another, as yet undecided site when the Expo closes in October. The stunning displays of synchronised lighting along the Expo Axis and on the banks of the Huangpu may appear to clash with the eco principle, but 80 per cent of these make use Chic, Cool & Dance Black Jack SIMPLY THE BEST
